Family meal…very important.
March 4th, 2010The older i get, the more i realize how important family meal is. Its not cool just because Italian mobsters do it with their crew and on Sunday’s with their family…its important because of the bond, the sharing you have with each other.
I am not fortunate to have a huge family so its all pretty new to me but when i have a family of my own we shall all dine together, forever.
Lil bro is thinking about heading into culinary arts, i wanted to give him ahead start in preparing meals…
One day i was watching a cooking show on PBS, dreaming about traveling the world, Eric Ripert was hooking up some dope meal after traveling to the Caribbean. To me a executive chef is like an artist and i really admire their work. From viewing that, i had the idea for baby bro to cook us a family meal every month.
A full three course meal from a different country every month, just to get his inspiration going and last Sunday was round 1 and was it a delight.
It wasn’t anything outrageous but a simple meal to start off this cooking marathon on a good pace.
A medium cooked steak, seasoned lightly over a charcoal flame with a tiny bit of flavorful zesty pesto sauce. Healthy vegetables consist of onion, tomatoes, cucumbers mixed in with a touch of lime juice and a sprinkle of pesto and a lightly grilled garlic bread.
With a sip of red wine the meal was pleasantly put together and i was very proud of him. We enjoyed a good meal together at the table (in which i haven’t done in awhile) talking about Manies business trip to India.
What will be on the plate for next month…your just going to have to wait and see and hopefully a few years from now, dine in a small local restaurant with local ingredients coming in daily from the fresh farms of Minnesota!
